2024 in review

Usually, for a year in review, I'm used to writing a small tweet about the year and what I expect from the next. This year I decided to change it and write something on this blog as an incentive to write more here. So, the idea of this blog post is to put in a few words (at least the ones that I remember) what has happened.

A side note here: I'm writing this blog post while listening to an album called “ten days” by Fred Again.., the artist I most admire and have listened to this year (according to Apple Music).

Major improvements on health 💪

This year, I started focusing on how I can improve my health. The first week of 2024, I had a chat with a nutritionist friend, and we were both thinking about how to improve the quality of the food (more healthy food and less processed ones) that I was eating. The plan was split in two phases:

  1. Start eating more (and more healthy food), then;
  2. Start the gym more days in the week. (I failed this one, moved to 2025 🤷‍♂️)

Aside from the healthy food, I started to play more and more volleyball during this year. I treat the volleyball as my escape from the daily stress, and as a new approach to making friends, it's been working even so much. Thanks to all friends who have been involved.

Personal life 💆‍♂️

My personal life is going well; 2024 was a year when I bring back my passion to attend to entrepreneur events (I'll talk more later), focused on keep my real friends closer to me, and with that, I'm "using" a mantra that say "people make time for who they want to make time for […] people text and reply to people they want to talk to…".

This year, I visited a place where I had been planning to visit since 2019 - Cuzco, Peru. And what a lovely place. The people, the culture, the history of that city, the mountains from the Andes. I really enjoyed that trip, and I'm planning to go back to Peru in 2025.

In 2024, my passion for coffee has been multiplied by 10. I don't know what happened, but I started to learn more about it and tried different recipes, methods, etc.

Work 🧑‍💻

2024 started with many challenges. I started to work on a huge migration from an application to Vue.js 3 from Vue.js 2. It was a challenge due to how the project was running, with other features being delivered in parallel to the migration. Another great challenge that I tackled this year was a migration of the bundler tool in the same project to replace Parcel to Vite and keep closer to the Vue.js ecosystem. I'm planning to write about it later in 2025.

Another point on which I focused this year was to draw a plan on how to become a reference as frontend engineer inside the company that I work. All the pieces of the puzzle are on the table; now what I need is to put them in the right place.

Wrote a few of blog posts, and I "back" to the stages as speaker.

Photo(s) of the year 📸

The photo of the year can't be other if not one of the Andes mountains; as I said before, what a lovely place.

What did I like in this image? It's simple: the layers. You can also check this image with the full quality on Unsplash.

As an honorable mention, I also liked this one (I have the impression of having seen this photo as a wallpaper of a known person. 🤔):

Both photos were taken using my iPhone 15 Pro using Halide as the camera app.

Happy new year 🎉

With that, 2024 was a great year. I focused on personal growth, health, and making meaningful connections. From embracing healthier eating habits and playing more volleyball to reigniting my passion for entrepreneurship and coffee, this year has been about balance and rediscovery. A highlight was my trip to Cusco, Peru—its culture and landscapes left a lasting impression, inspiring me to return.

I like to wish y'all a happy new year to all that read it.
